WORKS PROJECT ADMINISTRATION 1935
The Works Progress Administration employed millions of unskilled workers in the construction of public buildings and roads. It operated large arts, drama, media, and literacy projects providing jobs to the unemployed between 1935 and 1943. The WPA spawned hundreds of baseball teams occupying the idle time of the newly un-unemployed. The wooden grandstand at Doubleday Field, Cooperstown was replaced in 1939 by its workers. The cap here honors that Depression-era gem and the many teams of the WPA. All Navy Wool Cap, 3” Firm Visor, Red on White Felt Appliqué Logo.
