BALTIMORE BLACK SOX 1929
Originally an independent team, founded in 1916, the Black Sox were one of the original six teams to make up the Eastern Colored League in 1923. In 1929 they won the American Negro League Championship fielding the "Million Dollar Infield", a nickname given because of their value had they been a white infield. In the 1932 they joined the East-West League and collapsed by 1933.. Baltimore was without a major black team until the Elite Giants moved there in 1938.
